Oh my Gosh Karin, I love your work. Stunning. Looks sort of like we grew up in the same studio. Wonderful, and Thank you!

Artist's Description

This Butterfly mask was painted for our Fort Collins Museum of Art. Each year, we have an annual fund raiser for the museum and artists and really anyone in the community can paint a mask. Some of the masks go to a live auction and dinner gala. The masks that do not go to the live auction are sold at the museum in a silent auction. We raise some serious money each year for the museum. This was my entry for this last year and set a new high at the auction, bringing an astounding bid of $7000.

The mask was fun to do, I used 1/2" cut out gator board for the wings, mounted the mask to the gator board, gessoed and painted. was fun to do. 20

Coonts' work has been likened to abstract surrealism, realism with an abstract point of view or...
